Oh yes indeed it's sketch time sketch time 1

-And today is a special day for the tour de france walter.
-Yes indeed mike, today is the 300th anniversary of the streamer in the tour. 300 years ago the invention of professor henk moldeburg was introduced in the biggest tour of them all. From that day on the cyclist could no longer benefit from riding behind another cyclist because he had a small device on the back of his bike that produced wind towards the other cyclist behind him.
-And this first version wasn't much bigger then the one they use today.
-Surprisingly they haven't become much smaller over those 300 years. The first version was already quite impressive when you look at the functionality. It had a battery that lasted the whole day and the software was already able to calculate the wind in front to immediately stream the same amount in the back up to the strongest winds known during a tour the france.
-And all in a 6 kilo box walter, whereas the atomb bomb was a bad bad mother in a small box this was a good good one.
-That's right mike, a whole lot more then the 700 gram box they use today but still as already mentioned a very impressive piece of machinery as you can see here on our table.
-Yes and amongst us here is johan klokman, ceo of pilips that used to be philips, manufacturer of all kinds of machines, a company that brought the streamer to the world of cycling from the early beginning. Welcome mr. klokman, how did it all start 300 years ago?
-Thank you for having me here mr. pondrazil. Yes, back then the company was called philips and about a year and a half before that professor moldeburg went to the company with a first version of his streamer. He had been looking for a way to get rid of the advantage cyclists who never took lead had and after 4 years his first presentable version landed on our table. He had hoped the company saw the same potential in his invention as he did and it was a match made in heaven. It turned out that his brother albert was a cyclist who got taken so much advantage off that it had literally ruined his career and henk who never was the sportive one in the family felt so bad for his brother that he wanted to do something about it. That was the only thing that mattered to him and so he wasn't interested in the money he could make from his invention. Luckily for henk the times had evolved enough for him to be able to make a machine like that so that his first version had all the basic components needed for this device to work. Philips was very lucky to have henk walk in that day because he agreed with all the proposals the engineers made. They took out all the flaws and the campagne for the first finished version became an instant succes. The smaller sponsored races wanted to sponsor a race and all the cyclists would get a streamer for free. And from then on the streamer only became more popular every day. And it was when philips changed its name to pilips, a mindplay from one of the workers who joined the mathematical word pi with the ellips word while the board didn't mind the connotations, about 35 years ago, that the version was made that is still pretty much the same as the one we make now. I could bore you with the technical details of the changes over the years but i doubt that you'd find that interesting to hear in your program mr. pondrazil.
-Maybe some other time and other place mr. klokman. An amazing device like that that revolutionized the world of cycling like that is always in the hearts and minds of the cyclers and the fans all over the world.
-Yes mike, from that day on 300 years ago cycling would never be the same again. The streamer became mandatory and the winners of the tour de france started to claim victory based solely on their own efforts while nobody felt bad anymore for not having won the tour because of being part of a lesser team. The teams still went on but only to please the sponsors and the dream team selections inside the heads of the fans as it should have always been.
-True words walter, that's all we have time for now folks but we'll be back to talk some more streamer after a pixies song called all over the world. No connotations in that one i believe walter?
-If you say so mike.
